Diversity According To South Park & Family Guy

Many times T.V. imitates life and then life begins to imitate television. Programs operating on the fringes of societal acceptance often have a more developed, logical, and inclusive view of our society than the entities which have a strangle hold on morality in our culture. As a result, television shows, such as The Family Guy and South Park, are more likely to teach and reinforce the morals and values of young adults than the real home that they are being raised in.

Programs Goals:

• Break down stereotypical attitudes and behavior towards differences
• Attune viewers to a higher level of understanding of how the media portrays Diversity
• Reinforce the theme of education through absurdity

Diversity is present in the program through the different portrayals of stereotypes through video clips from well known television programs.
